Let’s Look Closer to the Dashboard

Here, I’ve searched for the term “hairstyles for women”. Now let’s look at the results from closer and try to understand what kind of metrics KWFinder gives us.

What these metrics try to tell us?

Trend: Trend of search in last 12 months.

Search: Average monthly search volume of the keyword in last 12 months.

CPC: Average cost per click

PPC: Level of competition in PPC advertising

KD: Keyword SEO difficulty

When we look at the right-hand side of the screen, we can see the SEO difficulty and monthly search volumes in a graphical view.

And finally, we can see the Google SERP results and metrics. These results are the top results from Google search for selected keyword. Overall SEO score is computed as the average of the SEO difficulty of the top 10 pages.

DA (Domain Authority): A ranking score by MOZ that predicts how well a domain will rank.

PA (Page Authority): A ranking score by MOZ that predicts how well a specific page will rank.

CF (Citation Flow): Developed by Majestic, is focused on link quantity. It predicts how influential an URL is, based on how many sites link to it.

TF (Trust Flow): Developed by Majestic, is focused on link quality. Sites closely linked to a trusted seed site should see higher scores, while sites that have questionable links will see lower scores.

Links: Number of external backlinks to the URL. Hover the number for number of referring domains, IPs and subnets.

FB: Number of Facebook shares for the URL

LPS: Overall link profile strength of the URL developed by Mangools.

EV: Estimated visits per month on this SERP position.

What is SEO Difficulty and What Does it Tell Us?

SEO difficulty is one of the most important metrics when choosing a keyword for our content. It shows us how easy it will be for us to rank higher in search results.

When performing a keyword research, the higher the SEO difficulty metric is, it is harder to compete for this keyword with other competitors. Therefore, our first goal should be to check for low SEO difficulty keywords.

KWFinder shows us the SEO difficulty with a metric range from 0 to 100. The lower the value, it is easier to rank higher for that keyword.

We can see from the scale list that it is easier to rank high for keywords with difficulty under 50 points. If you can catch green, it is great, but please keep in mind that we can’t rank in the first place just by choosing keywords with low SEO difficulty. There are also other important metrics in the game. However, finding these low difficulty keywords helps us to gather some ideas about our new content and SEO strategy.

How KWFinder Calculates SEO Difficulty?

KWFinder calculates SEO difficulty by looking at some metrics such as:

  • Domain Authority
  • Page Authority
  • MozRank
  • MozTrust

At first, the tool looks at SEO rank for every website featured on the first page. Then it checks the Domain Authority of each website and finally gives a result based on the average calculation of the specified metrics.

Features of KWFinder

There are some great features of KWFinder that we can use to find low competitive keywords and filter our search results based on some metrics.

Suggestions: This feature gives you the keyword suggestions with or without your original keyword. KWFinder tool generates these suggestions based on their algorithm and keyword database.

Auto-complete: When you choose the auto-complete mode, KWFinder merges your seed keyword with other words and show their metrics. It suggests you other words as Google search keyword suggestion. It is good to use this feature if you want to come up with combined keywords and see their metrics.

Questions: As you now, we sometimes use Google search by writing questions. If you choose KWFinder’s questions tab, the tool gives you the opportunity of targeting questions starting with How, What, Where, When, Which, Whose etc. You can use this feature if you want to target keywords with question format.

Filtering Keyword Search Results
You can filter your search results based on search volume, CPC, SEO difficulty, PPC, the number of words and more.

You can also include or exclude keywords here.

Importing Keywords

As you can understand the feature from its name, you can easily import your ready-to-use keywords into the KWFinder. You can do it in 3 ways:

-write the keywords as separate tags
-upload your TXT or CSV file
-drag & drop your file

Making Keyword Lists

We know that sometimes the things get messy when we search for keywords. There is a feature in KWFinder to help us keep our keywords organized. You can create an infinite number of lists and keep things organized.

It would be better to use this feature having more lists with fewer keywords to keep things in control.

CSV Export Feature

You can also export your search results and lists with the CSV export feature.

How to use KWFinder to find long tail and low competition keywords?

Let’s switch our search to “hairstyles for men” and see the results. The important thing here is to find a keyword that is trending with a high search volume and low SEO difficulty. You can filter your results based on SEO difficulty using results filter feature of KWFinder.

As you can see from the image above, “short hairstyles for men” is a good keyword combination to create content around it because it is trending with high monthly average search volume and low SEO difficulty.

The KWFinder basic plan shows you 200 keyword results. If you want to find more long tail keyword ideas, you can get help from other keyword suggestion tools. I can recommend 2 free keyword research tools for you to find long tail keywords: These are Ubersuggest and KeywordShitter.

You can try these free keyword research tools and then import your favorite ones to KWFinder to see their important metrics. In this way, you can find lots of long tail keyword ideas with low SEO difficulty.

KW Finder vs. Google Keyword Planner

With the recent change on Google Keyword Planner, if you are not spending a decent amount of money on Adwords, you can’t see the exact monthly search volumes. Instead, what you see is the search volume range of the keywords.

On the other side, KWFinder seems not affected by this change. When I looked for the reason, I found out that they are gathering search volume data from different well-known players as well.

While Google KW Planner gives wider ranges for results like 1K-10K or 10K-100K, KWFinder gives the exact number based on its advanced data collection feature.

Pricing

The basic plan of KWFinder is $29.90/month if you choose the annual payment plan. This will save you $229.20 per year. You can also choose the monthly basic plan and pay $49/month.

You can search for 100 keyword lookups, 100 SERP lookups per 24 hours and 200 Related keywords per search.

If you are a budget blogger and looking for a cheap online keyword research tool, KW Finder has a pricing advantage according to other tools.
